I will try to honor Solomon’s counsel: “Let thy words be few.” Eccl.5:4. 

While an exhaustive study is worthy to answer the inquiry of Sabbath vs. Sunday, I will focus only on the thematic points that carry the most weight. 

Let us begin with the boasts of Rome: 

“The Church is above the Bible.”—The Catholic Record, September 1, 1923.  

“We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemity from Saturday to Sunday."—Peter Geiermann, The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1946 ed.), p.50. Geiermann received the "apostolic blessing" of Pope Pius X on his labors, January 25, 1910. 

"The observance of Sunday by the Protestants is an homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the [Catholic] church."—Monsignor Louis Segur, Plain Talk About the Protestantism of Today (1868), p. 213. 

"If protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath Day, that is Saturday. In keeping Sunday they are following a law of the Catholic Church."—Albert Smith, chancellor of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, replying for the cardinal in a letter of Feb. 10, 1920. 

"You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctified."—James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers (1917 ed.), pp.72,73. 

“Most Christians assume that Sunday is the biblically approved day of worship. The Catholic Church protests that it transferred Christian worship from the biblical Sabbath (Saturday) to Sunday, and that to try to argue that the change was made in the Bible is both dishonest and a denial of Catholic authority. If Protestantism wants to base its teachings only on the Bible, it should worship on Saturday.”—Rome’s Challenge www.immaculateheart.com/maryonline Dec 2003. 

“The Sunday...is purely a creation of the Catholic Church.”—American Catholic Quarterly Review, January 1883. 

“Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change (Saturday Sabbath to Sunday) was her act...And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things.”—H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons. 

     The Roman Catholic Church is honest in their relationship with the Scriptures and have been public in their proclamation of this.  But Protestant ministers are dishonest in their relationship with Scripture and thus are guilty of both denial and hypocrisy.  This stems from the lust of pride that refuses the honor GOD promises to those who are “meek and lowly in heart” (Matt.11:29).  This apostasy is now the dominant force in every seminary; and thus, the preachers bear false witness against “the truth,” “as the truth is in Jesus.” Eph.4:21.  Through these leaders the congregations are then led astray.  As the psalmist said, “Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.” Ps.78:41.  

     Let us review the verses that are misused to sustain a false theology in this important salvational issue: 

Rev.1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet. 

     The church has been told that “the Lord’s day” is the first day, Sunday. Reference Bibles will take you to Acts 20:19 or I Cor.16:2. 

Acts 20:19  And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

I Cor.16:2  Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. 

     These reference verses collapse when it is seen that “the Lord’s day” is not even hinted in the above verses.  This is a theological presumption that has no basis in fact and yet is imposed as Christ obedient.  Let’s examine this. In Acts 20:19, “when the disciples came together to break bread,” this gathering to hear the words of the Apostle Paul was after Sabbath sundown, (or Saturday night).  It was simply a marvelous Bible study given by the Lord’s servant and had no association whatsoever with changing the solemnity of Sabbath to Sunday. 

     “The LORD of hosts” through His prophet Isaiah tells us precisely which day is “the Lord’s day:” “If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” Isaiah 58:13,14.

     These words are insisted to apply only to the Jews. But whom does Paul declare as the true Jews and Israel of GOD?   “For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” “And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Rom.2:28,29; Gal.3:29. “There remaineth therefore a rest [Greek word, Sabbath] to the people of God.” Heb.4:9. 

     Then there are the bewildering number of Bible translations, each competing for the supremacy over the KJV whose “received text” manuscripts alone can be traced back to the hands of the apostles themselves via John's closing work in Ephesus assembling all of the inspired writings that comprise the 66 books of the Holy Bible [Ref. Benjamin Wilkinson, Our Authorized Version Vindicated].  The worst of the flood of new Bibles happens to be the most popular modern translation, the NIV.  Just a few words about this so-called translation. They claim the following: “Where existing manuscripts differ, the translators made their choice of readings according to accepted principles of New Testament textual criticism.  Footnotes call attention to places where there was uncertainty about what the original text was. The best current printed texts of the Greek New Testament were used.”

     The arrogance of these “scholars” is seen by reading a few verses that were omitted from their Bible: The closing words of the LORD’S prayer: “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matt.6:13.—Deleted! The magnificent words uplifting Christ’s love: “For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.” Lu.9:56.—Deleted!  And these scholars have even omitted Christ’s words to Satan: NIV: “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone.’” Lu.4:4.  KJV: “And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Lu.4:4. 

     The NIV translators condemn themselves and deceive the whole world to share in their hypocrisy and sin!  They included Deuteronomy's and Revelation’s soul-destroying warnings never to add or take away from the Holy Bible (Deut.4:2; Rev.22:18.19).  Then they arrogantly omit whole texts and portions of texts.  They omitted: 17 whole verses: 18 portions of verses. They omitted names of our LORD Jesus Christ 173 times.  By omission or change of wording they have changed the meaning of texts in at least 229 verses in the New Testament alone!  They have attacked the Deity of Christ, the Creatorship of Christ, the Prophecy of Christ, the Commandments of Christ, and the Love of Christ.  They literally mock at the warnings of Christ, and have assaulted the inspiration of the Bible, the perfection of character, repentance, GOD’S converting power, the judgment and fate of the wicked: all under the guise of “accepted principles of New Testament textual criticism.” 

     Lastly, the church history that is taught today is as dangerous to the soul as cancer is to the body.  This is because counter-reformation agents of the Jesuit Order have freely used Satanic methods to malign the true history of Christ's Church so as to herd the people of Earth to believe that the Catholic church is Christ’s one ordained church and that salvation only comes through her.  The Bible gives the true reason of Rome’s sabotage of history: “that they all might be damned, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” II Thess.2:12.  The entire history of Christ’s true church has been surgically removed from the knowledge of men: specifically, the history of the Waldneses.  The great scholar, Beza said that the Waldensian church began in 120 A.D.  Their Bible, the original Latin Vulgate (long before Jerome’s corrupt vulgate) was the Itala.  And this noble version was the Bible of the church in “the wilderness” (Rev.12:6).  It was the Bible of Patrick of Ireland, Columba of Scotland, Aiden of England, and Columbanus of Europe.

     In 600 A.D. Pope Gregory burned to the ground the two palatine libraries of the Waldenses, thus removing over 500 years of the history of Christ’s true church, whose theology aligned with the Judean model established by Paul: "For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews." I Thess.2:14.  Throughout the centuries they were persecuted, hunted and murdered as “heretics.”  Their entire history has been all but blotted from the Earth.  Their heritage is all but forgotten.  Wrote the historian, Gilly: “It is a singular thing that the destruction or rapine, which has been so fatal to Waldensian documents, should have pursued them even to the place of security, to which all, that remained, were consigned by Morland, in 1658, the library of the University of Cambridge.  The most ancient of these relics were ticketed in seven packets, distinguished by letters of the alphabet, from A to G. The whole of these were missing when I made inquiry for them in 1823.”—Gilly, Waldensian Researches, pg.80. 

     The Reformation of the church began when a Sabbath keeping Waldensian missionary named Lollard enlightened John Wycliffe (“The Morning Star of the Reformation”) of Rome’s place in Bible prophecy and her incessant war against Christ and His Word.  Those who followed Wycliffe were called Lollards.  The reformation of the church owes its beginning to Commandment keeping Christians who preserved the apostolic church throughout the centuries.  And the commandment keeping Christians today have these facts, both Biblical and historical, as their heritage, dating back to when Jesus walked among men.  Jesus kept holy the Sabbath day, and we are called “to walk, even as he walked.” I Jn.2:6. 

In summation: 

1. Sunday is not the day GOD blessed (Gen.2:3).

2. It is not the day GOD sanctified (Eze.36:23).

3. It is not the day GOD set apart for holy use (Ex.20:11).

4. It is not the day GOD calls His children to enter His Holy Rest (Ex.31:13-18).

5. It is not the day Jesus obeyed, nor any of His disciples (Lu.4:16; Acts 13:42-4), nor His faithful church throughout the centuries: the Waldenses, Albigenses, the Vaudois, and a host of other peoples (Rev.12:6).

6. It is nowhere mentioned in the Bible as having any significance other than sun worship and all the pagan gods associated with it (Eze.8:16).

7. It is not the day GOD said would be honored throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity (Isa.66:22,23) 

     So why then do men impose its tradition on other men as having any sanction from GOD when only the roman pontiff claims his authorship of authority on that day?  Worse than that, the tyranny associated with Sunday is a sin.  And when men forcibly cause all to obey it while it stands illegitimate by its very nature, our nation’s destruction is soon to follow just as Judah’s destruction followed when they turned from the holy Sabbath day (Eze.ch.20).  “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” I Cor.10:11,12.
